It was a shock to the world when legendary artist David Bowie died at the start of the year and I think we speak for everyone when we say how much of a loss it was. David Bowie was arguable one of the most influential people to ever live. Most people know him for his music, but he offered up to the world, much more than that. He was a fashion icon, whose every changing style was heralded as both innovative and influential, a talented musician and a lover of art.

When Bowie left school he studied art, music and design and actually became something of an art collector himself saying “Art was the only thing I’d ever wanted to own… the only thing I buy addictively is art.” But more than being a collector, he also inspired art. One quick google of David Bowie throws up a multitude of Bowie inspired canvases, paintings and drawings and shows you how far his influence reached.

Being artists ourselves, we can say for certain that David Bowie influenced us in one way or another. We wouldn’t be surprised if a client wants to commission a Ziggy Stardust fused glass art tribute, or one of his other alter egos! We’d be completely thrilled to create such a piece and it would be a fitting tribute to immortalise this already immortal figure in fused glass art.
