We recently took some time off creating fused glass art, taking the chance to travel to Venice and visit a few relatives. We thought that we’d take the chance to blog about it, however, as Venice is an incredibly significant place for glass art of all kinds. Did you know that glassmaking there has existed since the 10th century, and is still going strong to this day? The sculpture pictured above is a pretty good indicator of that!

Murano glass in particular, a particularly famous kind of glassmaking, is a huge inspiration for Lisa’s own art. It’s one of the main reasons why she became interested in creating fused glass in the first place. It made sense to spend as much time as possible taking in all of the sights that the island had to offer, and of course, there was no other choice for our first blog about our trip. Murano itself is a stunning place, with so many gorgeous sights to see. Just like the rest of Venice there are many canals along which gorgeously styled buildings can be found, and it really is hard to find somewhere that doesn’t look incredibly picturesque. We were having a tough time not photographing absolutely everything we saw!

Needless to say, we saw a lot of glass designs and unique patterns that inspired more than a few ideas for our own fused glass art. Keep your eye on this space, as there’s many more places we visited that we’d just love to share with you in a blog or two. In the meantime, however, make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to own some gorgeous glass – come and have a look through our portfolio.

We’re feeling thoroughly inspired by our trip to Venice, so there’s never been a better time to come and get your very own piece of fused glass art. After all, we’re just dying to get back to work and create some truly special glass for you! Whether you’re interested in bespoke glass splashbacks or wall art, you can find our contact details right here on our website. Don’t wait to do just that as soon as you can.
