One of the best things about our work in fused glass art and glass splashbacks is how much we get to travel. One of our most recent clients lives in Keswick in the Lake District and had a bare space above the cooker in their kitchen. They thought one of our glass splashbacks would fill the space beautifully and they were right! They chose a tree of life design which was perfect as they live in such a natural, rural area. The fused glass art looks stunning when light shines through the kitchen window and shows that you don’t just have to look at the great outdoors to find something in the Lake District!

Fused Glass Trees

We’re massive fans of the Lake District here at The House of Ugly Fish, especially Keswick. It’s such a beautiful place to visit and there’s so much to do! Honister Slate Mine is a fantastic little excursion and such an interesting lesson in the history of mining in the area. The views are breath taking!

If the weather’s nice, a boat trip out on Derwentwater never goes a miss and it feels amazing to be out in the open air. The Lake District is so serene and peaceful; it’s the perfect getaway.

One of our favourite places to pop into when we’re in the area has to be The Pencil Museum; home to the biggest colouring pencil in the world! It’s such a little hidden gem and of course we’d like it – we’re artists! If you’ve never been it’s a wonderful little place to take the kids and it’s as adorable as it sounds, as well as being informative. We sound like we’re on the Cumbria tourist board don’t we? Alas, we’re not; we’re just makers of glass splashbacks who happen to love The Lake District!
