This brand new splashback is one of the very latest pieces of fused glass art by The House of Ugly Fish, delivered to a home in Edinburgh. We’re eager to show it off, so we’re featuring it on our blog as soon as we can.

It brings something fresh to the table! While the last few pieces we’ve featured have been classic original designs, the design of this particular splashback is something very unique indeed. It comes from the piece of glass that you see below, which was a piece that was created for the customer by a Canadian artist coming all the way from Newfoundland.

The customer asked Lisa to interpret the original piece and to blow it up to a larger scale, with some adjustments made along the way. Lisa was happy to accept the challenge, and soon set about creating a splashback with the scale altered and the colours perfectly matched. The final product is as you see at the top of this blog, sitting front and centre as the pride of the kitchen.

Just like in the original piece of glass, which we love, there’s a lakeside style scene that incorporates a variety of natural colours. Verdant green hues mix with cool blue shades, with a huge amount of detail sprinkled on top. There’s texture to be found everywhere you look, and the closer you get to the piece the more of it you see. Finishing it all off nicely, a bright and vivid band of red and golden yellow runs across the top of the landscape. It creates a bold band of contrast that looks just like the sun setting!
