Happy New Year from The House of Ugly Fish! We hope all of our readers are well, and we’re wishing everybody all the best as we head into 2021. To really kick things off in style, we thought it’d be a great idea to show off something beautiful and very pleasant to look at – and of course, we couldn’t wait to show you yet another piece of glass we’re very proud of. That’s right, we’re getting started nice and early with this first blog for the year, which features a piece that we delivered to a home in Esher, Surrey.

The piece is a bespoke fused glass art splashback, sitting behind the cooker as a centrepiece. The customer who ordered it had liked the design of another splashback previously featured on our website, but she wanted the design slightly modified to better suit the blinds in her kitchen. She sent in a sample that featured a silvery grey, paired with charcoal and gold, and Lisa soon set about putting those exact colours into the glass.

The result is as you see here on this blog! The final design is a particularly eye-catching and unique one, depicting a stylised arrangement of black and gold allium flowers against an off-white background. It’s a beautifully neutral piece which complements a very warm and cozy space to a tee. We love how it turned out, and we especially adore the way that it looks after being installed in situ. The kitchen is an exceptionally warm and cosy space with lots of wood and stone on show, and we’re happy that the glass really adds to that warm and welcoming atmosphere.

If this glass inspires your very own ideas for a beautiful kitchen splashback, we’d be happy to create something bespoke for you. It doesn’t have to look anything like this piece, either, as we make all of our pieces made to order. You can have as much say in the design as you’d like, guaranteeing that you get your hands on something that perfectly fits a certain space in your home like nothing else could.

With our business in full swing already, we’re charging into 2021 with a mission to make this our best year ever. We really mean it when we say there’s never been a better time to invest in bespoke fused glass art, as our long list of customers is soon to be getting even longer. You can get in contact by picking up the phone or dropping us an email so make sure you don’t hesitate to do exactly that. Your best ideas could soon become real works of art in your home!
