This particular piece of fused glass art came to be created for a customer who had seen something just like it on our website and wanted a version of it made to fit the space behind her own cooker. Thanks to our completely bespoke process, we were able to create a customised variation on that same design on a smaller scale, measuring and cutting the glass so that it would fit the space perfectly.

Forming the background for the piece, a very fresh pale green shade forms a solid base upon which a classic Dalaman design took shape. As you can see pictured above, a curving line runs from left to right, bending almost as if under the weight of the horizontal pieces aligned along it.

There’s a tremendously broad range of colours and textures to be seen at the forefront of the design, with each horizontal strip both contrasting and complementing. From warmer colours such as red and orange all the way to more neutral shades that complement the modern styling of the kitchen, you’ll spot a whole host of inclusions you might not have expected. We especially love the two blue and white strips that run down the middle, adding to what turned out to be a real feast for the eyes.

A matching decorative bowl was made for the piece, tying the decor of the room together neatly around the centrepiece. The final result is beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?

Here at The House of Ugly Fish, we really do love nothing more than seeing brand new pieces of fantastic fused glass art rolling off of our kiln and into the back of the van to be delivered across the country. Knowing that something bespoke and unique is headed for a loving home is a great feeling, and it’s always fantastic to get pictures back after the piece has been fitted in situ. Watching everything come together is always satisfying, isn’t it?
