Here’s another piece of fused glass art from the vaults, delivered about five years ago to a home in Sandbanks, Dorset. It was a design based on a fabric that the customers had in their home and wanted to match, although plenty of aspects of the splashback were influenced by the warm tone of the kitchen. So what went into this particular piece of glass?

Well firstly, every great design starts with a good background and this one was no exception. The primary colour used was a light golden brown, mixed with a very warm cream hue and blended perfectly. Soft gradients created a cloudy effect, making sure that there’s plenty to notice in this splashback even before you get to the main feature of the design in the foreground.

The main feature of the design was the group of highly stylised plants you see rising from the bottom of the panel. There were three stalks in total, depicting wildflower seed heads in a very minimalist and artistic way. Green, white and black shades act as complementary colours and accents that add contrast to the piece. The finished product was an incredibly nuanced design with a lot of subtlety, but the effect it had in the kitchen is huge and it suited the décor of the room to a tee.

From start to finish, our fully bespoke process ensured that the end result was always going to match the space as well as it did. Between colour samples and photographs, we were able to match the colour to the shade the customers were looking for, and also able to make sure even the smaller details were just right.
