And so we reach the end of another week! Do you have that Friday feeling yet? If it’s a little early for that, we’ve got something that’ll raise your spirits a little bit and add a splash of colour into your day. It’s our latest completed project, of course, though regular readers of our blog shouldn’t be too surprised about that. As you can see pictured above, the panel is a fused glass splashback and it looks absolutely gorgeous in its new position as a centrepiece in a Cambridge kitchen.

It’s a design we’ve created before, but it’s never been quite the same across each piece. This splashback in particular definitely brought some very unique elements to the table, such as the extra wide frame and the lights overhead. Take a look at the incredible variety of blue hues that create an artistically infused texture for the water, with dark shades below depicting the depths of the sea and speckled white accents alongside brighter shades showcasing the shallows of the surface. Where the light streams in, shafts of sunbeams follow.

You really do get a strong sense of the aquatic when you look at this splashback, and the width of the piece helps to give the whole image a panoramic effect. It’s like you’re looking into a window leading to another place entirely. What’s more, while the background of a piece is usually there to support the elements in the foreground, our fused glass art is a medium within which every single aspect of the design has to be created by hand. That means there’s details to be seen as far as the eye can see. Hand painted mackerel complete the effect, shining with silver metallics.

The customer was over the moon with it, and we thought it came out looking particularly fetching as well. It’s another big success for us!
