The story behind this lovely bespoke glass splashback is definitely one for the blog! The client was looking for a splashback for their kitchen in North Devon, but they used to live in the Maldives. Understandably, not wanting to leave the gorgeous sights behind, they decided to bring home a little touch from abroad and have a bespoke glass splashback created with one of their very favourite spots in mind.
They remembered a particular lighthouse that they liked on the Maldives, and so that became the basis for the widely panning seascape. From there, the rest of the piece fell into place. Lisa could get started immediately! She drew up the composition to match the space and the shape of the cupboards, and made sure that the lighthouse was incorporated.
The end result is as you see pictured above, and it’s a truly stunning piece. We absolutely love the way it came out! A gorgeous blend of blue and green creates the clear waters of the sea below, while deeper hues bring out an incredible sky complete with thin, wispy clouds that look as if you could reach out and touch them. A slew of boats make their way across the water, sailing calmly to make the most of the beautiful day that the client can now view every time they’re in their kitchen. Funnily enough, the village of Appledore is also a beautifully scenic seaside location, so the splashback definitely fits!
The client was very happy with the piece, so hopefully they’ll feel like they’re back in the Maldives even when the British climate offers up an all too common rainy day!
