Starting the week in style, this beautiful piece is the latest in a long line of home splashbacks from The House of Ugly Fish to find a home in the UK. In this particular case, the glass was delivered to a lovely house in Meols, in the Wirral. The glass has a very unique design, so it should come as no surprise that there’s a little bit of a story to go with it.

The customer had fallen in love with the design of a particular piece of pottery that they owned, and so was looking to have this splashback created with a design that would perfectly complement it. Lisa soon set about making a design that would pay homage while retaining that signature Villarospo flair. You can see the finished piece in its full glory pictured at the top of this blog, but we’ll break down some of the details for you now.

Every piece of glass starts with the base layer, but this piece is all about the foreground. Building on a background comprised of a warm cream colour, the main feature of this splashback is the array of flowers rising up from the bottom of the piece to bloom in a variety of beautiful hues. Each stalk and leaf was created out of a warmer brown tone as well, instead of the natural green you might expect. With each flower, red, blue, white, yellow and even more kinds of different colours from across the palette come together to create a beautiful scene like no other.

If you look closely, you should be able to see two smaller panels tucked away underneath the cabinets overhead. These two subtle yet effective surrounding pieces help to continue the splashback that little bit more, creating a near seamless effect that’s tailor made for this specific kitchen. Another big success under our belt, we reckon!
